In order to bill a National Drug Code (NDC) on a claim, you'll need to first take the following steps:
- Add the NDC to your Billing codes database
- Tie your NDC to the CPT code
- Bill the CPT code, selecting the NDC and associated units
(1) Add the NDC to your Billing codes database
Navigate to your Billing Codes Database and click the Add button.
Under the New Clinic Billing Code section, select National Drug Code.
Enter the 11 digit NDC (or 13 digit, following the xxxxx-xxxx-xx format)
Click Add to save the code.
(2) Tie your NDC to the CPT code
Navigate to the CPT code to which you need to tie the NDC. (or add the CPT code if you haven't already).
Edit the code and select the Drug Code field and enter the specific NDC into the National Drug Code field.
Remember to click Save!
(3) Bill the CPT code on a purchase
When you add the CPT code to a purchase, you'll see the associated NDC populate, with the option to indicate NDC Units and Unit type.
Upon claim generation, the NDC will appear on the claim:
