Inserting an invisible pixel into an email allows the sender track when the email is read, the number of times it is opened, a user’s IP address, and device usage. While this functionality is valuable to the sender, it has come under scrutiny as a potential invasion of privacy for the recipient. In an effort to enhance privacy, many large email servers and software vendors, including ChiroUp, have chosen to discontinue pixel tracking of emails.
